In the "starting mech" screen and just go from there or is there a save file I need to make an adjustment on? Also, if I change it to the Firestarter at the very beginning would that impact what mech is used in the tutorial missions? Or should I use one of the mods that disables those and the Majesty Metals mission? I read the mods that do away with the tutorial and they don't say that they use ModTek, should that make a difference? I did exactly that on my 2nd vanilla (with tweeaks) playthrough. Thats basically a 60t heavy armour with eh speed of a light and the melee of unmodded top end medium/low heavy. I realise youre OP was about "what" mech you should choose, in that case I would go a firestarter (light mech) as pictured below.ġ65 melee attack, 120 alpha, 680 armour! 291 structure. Ie the battlemaster 1g is is "mechdef_battlemaster_BLR-1G" You can find the full list of their names in BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\StreamingAssets\data\shops\shopdef_Mech_all.jsonīut to put it simply is "mechdef_lower case common name one word_designation" You're looking for line 192 in the SimGameConstant.json (v1.04)Ĭhange "mechdef_blackjack_BJ-1" to the desired mech you choose. When all you really need to do is change 1 line. And they have to be repackaged every patch which requries the modder to update their mod and you to use the special program to reinstall it again, for every mod. You need a few extra thigns to get mods working.
